Since the beginning of 2019, I have become obsessed with Podcasts! I started getting into Podcasts because music just was not cutting it for me. Every time I got in the car and put on music, I became so BORED of any song that came on. I even tried different genres like 80s, jazz, and even rap but non of them were sparking my interest. That’s when I decided to give Podcasts a go.
At first, I didn’t really know what kind of shows I wanted to listen to because there are so many! You can listen to topics on health, beauty, life, and even business. So I started to try listen to different types until I found some of my favorite podcasts that I listen to religiously! Out of all of the Podcasts I have listened, only two have really stuck in my brain because the topics are so different and interesting.
So here are my top two favorite Podcasts to listen to currently, but first I want to share with you some….
Things to look for when finding Podcasts
I think when looking for a Podcast to listen to, you have feel a connection with the speaker. For me, I hate it when speakers scream and are over the top in their shows. I like it when the speaker(s) can have fun with the show without being too over the top or fake. Something else I look for in a Podcast is if the message has any realistic substance. I’m not going to stick with a Podcast if I am given unrealistic goals. I want someone to tell the small steps it takes to get to the top and be as detailed as possible when describing them.
1. PRETTY BASIC WITH REMI CRUZ AND ALISHA MARIE
If you don’t know who Remi Cruz and Alisha Marie is, they are both Youtubers who have the BEST personalities! Remi is like the really funny and crazy friend but you can still talk to her about personal/deep subjects. Alisha is also really cool and fun as well but I feel like she is a bit more laid back than Remi. Combining the two personalities into a Podcast really makes the show so interesting to listen to.
Some of the subjects they talk about are dating, friendships, relationships, careers, and their everyday lives. Most of the time I love listening to their relationship and career shows. Not only do you get a glimpse of their personal life but you also get really good life advice.
My favorites episodes that I have listened to so far are
- Getting to Know the Savage Side of Alisha and Remi
- Dropping Out of College and Following Your Dreams
The reason why I love these two episodes is because they share their personal life and story. You get to know who they are as a person and what work they did to become successful. After listening to them, it motivated me to still keep working on my goals and dreams.
Some things to know about their episodes are
- Sometimes they can be very “Valley Girl”
- A little bit off topic at times
- One person may talk a little too fast when telling a story
I think it is good for new viewers to know what they might expect from the Podcast besides stories/advice.
2. Don’t Blame Me by Meghan Rienks
Meghan Rienks is also a Youtuber but her Podcasts are more explicit. She doesn’t shy away from talking about the more private things in life. She gives good advice and it is very entertaining to listen to.
Meghan’s personality is very straightforward. She does not shy away from saying what she feels in the moment. Surprisingly, I find that very refreshing that she does not portray a fake persona for the audience.
My favorite episodes that I have listened to so far are
- Body Positivity with Elle Mills
- Losing Friends with Aislinn Paul
Again this show is more explicit and some episodes I don’t care to listen to. However, these types of shows I absolutely love! She’s funny, caring, and gives some good advice on the topics discussed!
Some things to know about the episodes are:
- Explicit Language
- Can be a bit loud at times
- Give and take kind of show
Most of her advice is very good, but there are times where is a give and take situation. Overall I love the show and all the guests she has are very fun to listen to as well.
